COMMUNITY SERVICE
Rotary does not exist solely for fellowship. Rotary is far
more than getting together once a week for a meal and some kind of programme.
Rotary operates on the principle that a Rotarian who serves must act - not once
a week, but day-by-day and hour-by-hour as opportunities to serve may arise.
The Rotary Club is not a Chamber of Commerce and it is not the function of a Rotary
Club to take over the problems of a community as would a Chamber of Commerce.
It is, however, within the realm of Rotary to report to the proper agency the
need for action when such a need is noted.
POLITICS AND RELIGION
Rotary is not concerned with a person's religious or
political affiliations. At any meeting of Rotary the world over you may find in
attendance Rotarians of various faiths - Moslems, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews,
Christians or other faiths. Rotary is not concerned with politics: individual
Rotarians may support any political party they choose but they do not bring
this into Rotary. Rotarians keep informed on political matters of the day and
exercise their franchise in elections.
