Day 34 - Mt Ruapehu to Wellington
We walked through part of the Botanical Garden and Bolton Street Memorial Park on our way to downtown Wellington
A long drive through beautiful Swiss-like countryside. Except for Wanganui and the Rawkawa Falls not too many stops as it is not the type of driving much appreciated by the passenger. Got to Wellington about 3 pm and did not waste any time getting out and about. Walked down to the centre city via part of the botanical garden to see the 'Beehive' and the Parliament building. Did some window shopping and made our way over to the waterfront to get to the National Museum. It was free and although we only had just over an hour in it we managed to see quite a bit. Then walked around the main civic square and had a pleasant dinner in a wine bar - Vivo Enoteca Cucina. Took a cable car to the top of the botanical garden and walked back down to the hotel.
