Day 32 - Rotorua
Drove from Auckland to Rotorua via Hamilton - easy drive with only 3 little RH drive-related incidents... Beautiful countryside the whole way - it was refreshing to be treated to two spring seasons with all the flowers.
Went to Te Puia thermal reserve which was very close to our motel. The Pohutu geyser was quite spectacular because it continued to erupt for long periods. We took a wrong turn at the obove-ground cemetary and wandered from Te Puia into the Wharekare Villagea and discovered we could not get back .... someone locked the gate between the two areas. It appears there is a bit of bad blood between the groups and they work separately. We had to walk back to the entrance outside the two parks.
Went to a Countdown Store to buy victuals for dinner and later in the evening went bact to the lakeshore for sightseeing.
