| Haida Gwaii & Inside Passage - 2022-08
After a short walk to the marina - down a VERY steep ramp that was too dangerous for Kathy - we boarded our two aluminum boats. We departed in the early morning for our day trip to the old Haida village at K'uuna Llnagaay. Emily Carr had visited this village and painted totem poles in the day. Now the poles - mortuary poles - had fallen. We saw remains of long houses with sunken sections. James, our guide, had been a watchman. The trip back was a bit rough as we bounced off the tops of 2-foot waves. |
