Photo Date 31/5/13 10:31:22 AM Greece - Naxos Trip - 2013-05-31 Third day on Santorini. The weather was finally wonderfully clear and the wind was a bit lower. In the early morning we caught sight of the parade of the donkeys as they headed for their task of carrying tourists up the hill from the harbour. Today we went to the ruins of Ancient Thira, again using the local transport. The ruins were quite a bit more extensive than at Akrotiri. There was a VERY steep winding road to the top access of the ruins. For 10€ each we took a van to the top. There were a surprising number of hikers - some not so young - who were looking pretty fatigued near the top. We saw about 1/2 the ruins - there was an access path to the upper portion, but we missed it and had to allow time to get back to town. |
