Photo Date 21/5/13 3:35:14 PM Greece - Naxos Trip - 2013-05-21 Naxos Bus Tour - our guide spoke 70% German and 30% English, but we got a reasonable taste of the central island highlights. The kouros near the town of Melenes. It was abandoned because a leg was broken in transport. Melanes is one of the oldest villages of the island and is located 8 km from the port of Naxos. The village's history goes back into centuries and samples of this are the ancient schools of sculpture and the famous Kouros of Melanes, made in the 6th century BC. |
