Photo Date 21/5/13 9:51:19 AM Greece - Naxos Trip - 2013-05-21 Naxos Bus Tour - our guide spoke 70% German and 30% English, but we got a reasonable taste of the central island highlights. One of the last working olive presses on the island of Naxos is located in the little village of Damalas. Two traditional monuments make the village famous, the old mill and the traditional pottery workshop. The mill began operating around 1850 and continued its function until 1960. In 2000 under the initiative of the village society, it was restored and since then operates as a monument, allowing visitors to admire the machines of that era The potter showed us some quirky items for holding and pouring wine. |
